On January 20, 2024, the South Florida rowing community gathered at Shake-A-Leg Miami to compete in the third annual Shake-An-Erg competition, which benefits Shake-A-Leg Miami. This unique event features indoor rowing machines known as "ergs" that offer a no-impact, full-body strength and cardio workout.
Both able-bodied and disabled rowers participated in the competition, challenging themselves and each other for the title of fastest on the erg. Children as young as 10 years old joined in to showcase the universal appeal of sport.
The Shake-An-Erg competition has become a much-anticipated event in the South Florida rowing community, not only for the chance to compete but also for the opportunity to support Shake-A-Leg Miami.
The event's success is due largely to the dedication of the organizers and volunteers who work tirelessly to make it happen. The Shake-An-Erg competition has become a true community effort, and its impact is felt far beyond the day of the event. For many, it is a reminder of the power of sport to bring people together and make a positive difference in the world.
