This month, we had the pleasure of hosting a visit from Lucia Baez Geller Miami-Dade County Public School Board Representative & Partick Salmasi ESE Director. During their time with us, we introduced them to our diverse range of programs aimed at disabled youth, adults, and veterans. They were particularly impressed with our Marine & Hospitality Vocational Program and had the opportunity to meet with participants and learn about their experiences.
Representative Baez also witnessed first-hand the positive impact that Shake-A-Leg Miami has on the community. They observed a sailing lesson and saw how our instructors provided individualized attention to each participant, ensuring they felt confident and comfortable on the water. Additionally, they learned about our adaptive water sports program, which provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy activities such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and water skiing in a totally exclusive setting.
We were delighted to share our mission and programs with the Lucia Baez Geller, Partick Salmasi, and members from their team, we look forward to continuing to work together to provide disabled individuals with opportunities to learn new skills, gain confidence, and experience the joys of being out on the water. We discussed how together we can better serve students transitioning from high school by offering job training and social recreation to young adults.
