In the past years, Shake-A-Leg has maintained its status as one of Miami’s most important establishments in regards to helping disabled individuals by organizing marine activities. However, it has also served as the host of multiple sailing competitions of international importance.

This past month, the 2021 M32 World Championships was held at Shake-A-Leg. While volunteers were leading inclusion activities with children and adults at Shake-A-Leg, intense racing was happening on the shores of Coconut Grove. The stage was set for a very exciting competition among some of the fastest sailboats in the world!

The teams were able to set up their sailboats in the hangar and leave them on the docks, while Shake-A-Leg organized events and activities for the sailors. Richard Goransson, Team Inga’s skipper, tell us, “I think it’s amazing that they manage to keep, in a prominent area like Miami, facilities like this for people like us to sail. I think it’s great and I love what they’re doing here with the kids and the activities.”

At the moment, Shake-A-Leg is hosting the 2021 International Melges 20 World Championships, which runs from December 8th to the 12th. Carlos Robles, the tactician for Team Nika, says, “Miami is my favorite spot to sail, and I am very excited to start racing!”

While we love to help the community here at Shake-A-Leg, we also love some fast and exciting races!
